Pillar Content
1 min read · Reviewed 17 Oct 2026
In short
A substantial page on a broad topic, with shorter posts clustered around it.
In plain English
One page covering a topic in full, supported by cluster posts that each go deeper on a single subtopic and link back to it. Sometimes called a hub-and-spoke or topic-cluster structure.
The pillar collects authority instead of scattering it across a dozen unrelated posts.
A real example
A pillar page on "Email marketing for small businesses", with cluster posts on subject lines, list building, segmentation and deliverability, each linking back.
Why it matters
It is a plan before it is writing, which is why AI can accelerate it but not produce it. The model has no view on which topic you can credibly own.
