FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
- Do I need to know anything about AI already?
- No. The courses assume you are a capable adult who has not spent time with this technology. Anything technical is defined in the glossary as it comes up.
- Is there any video?
- No. Everything is written. That is the whole point — you can skim it, search it, and come back to the paragraph you needed.
- Do I need a business to use this?
- No. Three courses are free and have nothing business-specific in them: AI Foundations, Practical Prompting, and Think First, Then Ask. AI Foundations does not even need an account. The first chapter of all 29 courses is free to read, and so is the whole glossary of 98 terms. The paid membership is built around workbooks about your own business, so it is best value if you run one. If you are learning AI for yourself, start with the free courses and see how far they take you.
- What does the free tier include?
- A free account gets you the opening chapter of every course, the full glossary, the topic hubs, the blog and a starter prompt pack. No card, and no countdown.
- What is the difference between Monthly and Annual?
- Monthly (£50 a month) is the reading: every course, chapter and read, plus notes, bookmarks and saved progress. Annual (£500 a year) adds early access to new content. Both include the fillable workbooks you complete on the site, the course checklists you tick off, the action notes on every chapter that export alongside your answers, and the full prompt library.
- What are the workbooks and checklists?
- Every course has both. The workbook is filled in here rather than downloaded blank — it saves as you type, you can format your answers, and it exports as a branded PDF with your own answers or as plain text you can paste into ChatGPT or Claude. The checklist turns everything the course asks you to do into boxes that remember what you have done. Both are included with any paid plan.
- What are action notes?
- Most chapters end with action steps. Underneath them there is a box for writing down what you are actually going to do about them — separate from your ordinary notes, because what you decide to do is worth more later than what you wanted to remember. Those notes are included in your workbook export, so the plan you hand to an AI tool carries your decisions and not just your answers.
- Can I use my answers with ChatGPT or Claude?
- That is what they are for. Every workbook has a "Copy for AI" button that gives you your answers and your action notes as plain text. Paste that into a project or your custom instructions once, and every request after it is about your business rather than a generic one. The last chapter of several courses walks through exactly how.
- Can I upgrade, downgrade or cancel?
- Any time, from the billing page in your account. Changes are prorated, so you only pay the difference. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- How does billing work?
- Monthly is £50 a month and Annual is £500 a year, each billed on that cycle. Your rate is locked for as long as the subscription stays active, so if prices change later you keep the rate you joined on.
- How long does a course take?
- Chapters are two to six minutes each, and courses run from nine chapters to around twenty — so half an hour of reading for a short one, an hour or so for the longest, plus however long you spend on the workbook. You can stop anywhere; it remembers where you got to.
- Do I keep my notes and workbook answers?
- Yes. Notes, action notes, bookmarks, progress, checklist ticks and workbook answers all live in your account and stay there. Everything you write saves by itself as you type. It is private to you, we never use it to train AI, and you can export your workbooks whenever you like.
- What is in the Prompt Library?
- Ready-to-use prompts for real work — writing, research, automation, sales, website content and governance — each tied to the course that teaches the thinking behind it, with square brackets marking what you fill in. A starter pack is free with an account, and the full library is included with any paid plan.
- Do you use AI to write the courses?
- The material is written and edited by people, and every course names its author. We use AI the way we teach it — for drafting against a brief someone wrote, and never for deciding what is true. Nothing goes out with a statistic, a source or a case study that a person has not checked.
- How do I get help?
- Raise a ticket from the support area in your account and you will see our replies there, or email us. We answer within two working days.
- How current is the material?
- Every chapter and glossary term carries the date it was last reviewed. When something stops being true we update it and move the date.
How do I use AI for…
The jobs people most often want AI to help with, and where to start on each.
- How do I find out what AI says about my business?
- Open a chat with no history in it, ask what it can tell you about your business by name, then ask which websites it used to answer. That second question is the useful one: it names the pages the answer was built from, which are the pages to correct if something is wrong. Check it in more than one AI tool, because they read different sources and will not agree.

- How do I stop AI content sounding generic?
- Generic output is a knowledge problem rather than a wording one. AI does not know who you serve, what you offer or how you sound, so it writes the average. Give it those things once as written context, then give it an example of your own writing to match, and the output stops reading as machine-made.
- Create AI Content That Sounds Human →
- What is an AI agent, and how is it different from a chatbot?
- A chatbot answers what you ask. An agent works towards a goal you set and takes steps on its own to get there, which is why it needs limits: what it may touch, what it must check with you first, and where it has to stop. For a small business the useful question is not what agents can do, but which of your jobs are worth handing over and how much freedom each one deserves.

- How do I automate parts of my small business with AI?
- Start with a job you already do the same way every time and can describe start to finish. Get it working by hand first, because automating a process you have not settled only makes the mess faster. Then automate one step, check the output for a week, and only widen it once you trust what comes back.
- AI Automation for Small Businesses →
- How do I know when to trust what AI tells me?
- Treat confidence and accuracy as unrelated: AI states an invented fact in exactly the tone it states a true one. Check anything you would have checked from a stranger, especially names, numbers, dates, quotes and sources, and be most sceptical where you know least, because that is where you cannot spot the error.
- Know When to Trust What AI Tells You →
- Can I use AI to write my website content?
- Yes, and the order matters more than the tool. Decide what each page is for and who it is talking to before you ask for a word of copy, because AI will happily write a polished page for a purpose you never settled. With the purpose and the audience written down, drafting gets much faster and needs far less rewriting.
- Strategic Website Content →
- How do I use AI to write a sales page?
- Build the brief first: who it is for, the problem they arrive with, what you offer, why you, your proof, and the objections you hear. A sales page is mostly those decisions arranged in order, so once the brief exists the drafting is quick and you are editing rather than starting from a blank page.
- How to Write Your Sales Pages with AI →
- How can AI help me sell without sounding pushy?
- Use it on the preparation rather than on the conversation. Research the person before a call, rehearse the objections you expect, and write the follow-up while the detail is fresh. The parts that have to sound like you, the call itself and anything that commits you, stay yours.
- How to Close More Sales with AI →
- How do I use AI for research without it inventing sources?
- Separate the two things you are asking for. AI is strong at structuring what you already have, summarising, comparing and arguing both sides. It is unreliable at supplying facts it was not given, and invents plausible citations. So bring the sources, and use it to think about them.
- How to Use AI for Smarter Research & Creative Ideas →
- What should I never put into an AI tool?
- Anything you would not email to a supplier: client names and personal details, anything covered by a confidentiality agreement, card or bank details, passwords and keys, and health or other special category data. When you need help with something sensitive, change the identifying details first and ask about the situation rather than the person.
- How to Create an AI Use Policy for Your Small Team →
- How do I get my team using AI consistently?
- Agree what good looks like before you train anyone, or everybody invents their own. Decide which jobs AI is for, what must never go into it, and who checks the output. Write that down in a page people will actually read, then teach to it, so the rules and the training say the same thing.
- Train Your Team to Use AI the Smart Way →
- Can AI make images for my business?
- Yes, for supporting visuals: blog headers, social graphics, simple illustrations and mock-ups. It is weaker at anything needing exact text, a consistent character across images, or your actual products and people. Treat it as a way to get usable visuals quickly, not as a replacement for photography of the real thing.
- How to Use AI to Create Images for Your Business →
- How do I decide what to focus on in my business?
- Write down everything competing for your attention, then judge each one on two things: what it is worth if it works, and how long before you know. AI is genuinely useful here as a sounding board, because it will argue the other side without being polite about it, which is what most of us lack when deciding alone.

About Jatinder Palaha and Doing Better with AI
The questions people ask about the person, the company and the approach.
- Who is Jatinder Palaha?
- Jatinder Palaha is the founder of Digital Rapport® and the creator of Doing Better with AI. He has worked one to one with coaches, consultants, authors and experts since 2008, helping them turn what they know into a business that runs online: the strategy, the website, the funnels and the systems behind it. He has been in digital business since 2004 and hosts the Digital Rapport® Podcast.
- What is Digital Rapport®?
- Digital Rapport® is Jatinder Palaha's company. It works with coaches, consultants and experts on the strategy, website, funnels and systems behind an online business, and it publishes Doing Better with AI.
- What is Doing Better with AI?
- Doing Better with AI is a reading-first AI membership from Digital Rapport® for coaches, consultants, freelancers, agencies and anyone learning to use AI well. Courses are short written chapters of two to six minutes rather than video, each one ends in a workbook about your own business, and one click turns your answers into context you paste into ChatGPT or Claude. The first chapter of every course is free to read, and some courses are free in full.
- What is the Business Blueprint?
- The Business Blueprint is the course at the centre of Doing Better with AI. It is Jatinder Palaha's one-to-one strategy session process turned into a workbook you complete yourself, covering seven parts: who you serve, the problem they arrive with, what you offer, why you rather than someone else, your proof, how your process works, and how you sound. When it is finished you have the brief for your website, your proposals and your marketing, and the context every other course builds on.
- Why does AI write generic content for my business?
- Because it does not know your business. A prompt tells AI what to do right now; it says nothing about who your customers are, what makes you different, or how you sound. So it fills those gaps with the average, which is the safest guess available to something that does not know. Better wording cannot fix missing knowledge. The fix is to write your business down once and give AI that as context.
- How do I give AI context about my business?
- Write down the seven things it cannot know unless you tell it: who you serve, the problem they arrive with, what you offer, why you rather than the obvious alternative, your proof, how your process works, and how you sound. Then put that where the tool will read it every time, in ChatGPT's custom instructions or memory, or in a Claude project, rather than retyping it at the start of each conversation.
- What is an AI brief?
- An AI brief is a written account of your business that you give to an AI tool before you ask it for anything, so it stops guessing. It typically covers your customers, your offer, your difference, your proof, your process and your tone of voice. It is the difference between asking a stranger to write for you and asking someone who has been properly briefed.
- Do I need to learn prompt engineering to use AI in my business?
- No. Prompting well helps, and it has a ceiling: a well-worded question asked of something that knows nothing about your business returns a well-worded generic answer. Learning to brief AI clearly is worth a few hours. After that the return comes from giving it context about your business rather than from more elaborate wording.
- What is the best way for a small business to start using AI?
- Start by understanding what AI is actually good and bad at, so you pick jobs it can do. Then write your business down once as context, because that is what stops the output being generic. Only then choose one area, such as your marketing, your website or your sales, and work through it properly rather than trying everything at once.
- Can I work with Jatinder Palaha one to one?
- Yes. One-to-one strategy sessions with Jatinder Palaha are available separately as a paid service and are not part of the Doing Better with AI membership. Details are at jatinderpalaha.com/work-with-jatinder.
