Risk Reversal

In short
Moving the risk of the purchase off the buyer and onto you.
In plain English
Anything that lowers what a buyer stands to lose if this turns out to be a mistake. A refund window is the obvious one, but so is a small paid trial, a first session before payment, monthly rather than annual terms, or simply publishing enough detail that nobody buys the wrong thing.
A real example
A £2,000 programme sold with nothing else attached asks a stranger to gamble £2,000 on your say-so. The same programme with a paid £200 first session, deducted if they continue, asks them to risk £200 — and lets you both find out early whether it is a fit.
Why it matters
Hesitation at the checkout is usually not about price, it is about being wrong about the price. Reducing the downside often moves more sales than reducing the number. It is also the cheapest thing to change on a page that gets traffic and no buyers: same offer, smaller first step.
