Headline

In short
The first line of a page, and the one that decides whether the rest gets read.
In plain English
The largest piece of text at the top of a page. Its job is not to be clever — it is to tell the right person, in one sentence, that they are in the right place.
A real example
"Transform your business with innovative solutions" could sit on a million websites and belongs on none of them. "Get your accounts filed before the January deadline without touching a spreadsheet" tells one specific person that this page is for them.
Why it matters
Most people read the headline and nothing else, so it carries more weight than the paragraph you spent an hour on. It is also the line AI writes worst by default, because a model with no specifics reaches for the safest phrasing available — and safe, in a headline, means invisible. Ask for ten and keep the two that sound like you said them.
