How to Use AI to Cut Through Overwhelm and Decide Your Business Focus 3 min read
Introduction
You have more than one direction you could take your business, and you can't decide which way to go. You've read the niche-down books, filled in the ideal-client worksheets, and watched the focus videos, and you're still sitting with the same open list, months later. You're not short on ideas. What's hard is choosing between them and then trusting the choice enough to act on it.
That indecision is costing you.
While you carry every possibility in your head, your marketing speaks to everyone and lands with no one, your offers compete with each other, and every week you don't decide is another week of lost income and scattered effort.
This workshop helps you finally make a decision.
You’ll use AI as your assistant strategist to lay your options out side by side, uncover the patterns and tradeoffs, and test the direction you're leaning toward before you commit. You'll leave with the decision made and written down, not a longer list of things to think about.
Throughout the workshop, you'll follow two people working through the same decision. Remi is a service-based solopreneur, five years in, weighing whether to stay a generalist virtual assistant or specialize in something narrower. Marcus makes and sells handmade goods, and after three years, he’s trying to decide which of his many product lines to commit to. Different businesses, same problem: too many directions, no way to choose.
How AI Helps You Decide
AI won't make this decision for you. What it does is the one thing a worksheet can't: ask you the questions you wouldn't think to ask yourself, name the patterns you've talked yourself out of seeing, and point out the tradeoffs you've been avoiding. You give it your real situation, it gives you back questions and angles you hadn't considered, and you make the call.
Two things to keep in mind. AI can be confidently wrong, so treat what it gives you as input to react to, not answers. And the more honest you are about your business, the more useful that input will be. You also don't need to know how to write prompts. The ones you need are written for you, ready to copy and paste into your AI chat tool.
Any conversational AI tool works for this workshop: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or whichever one you're already using.
What You’ll Learn in this Workshop
By the end of this workshop, you'll have:
-
A clear picture of why past attempts to choose didn't stick, so this time, the decision will hold
-
Every direction you're weighing laid out on one page where you can compare them, instead of cycling through them in your head
-
A short list of criteria specific to your situation, which is the measuring stick that makes your decision defensible, not just another gut call
-
A written record of the real tradeoffs in each direction, including the ones you've stopped noticing
-
One direction chosen, with the reasoning behind it written down, and the others set aside with purpose
-
A completed one-page Focus Decision Document that includes your audience, your problem, your direction, and what you ruled out and why. All ready to use when the workshop ends
Before you go further, take two minutes to write down where you're starting from.
