Summarisation
1 min read · Reviewed 17 Oct 2026
In short
Condensing long material into its essentials.
In plain English
Reducing a document to its main points. Models are genuinely strong here, because you supply the source — there is much less room to invent.
A real example
A forty-page report becomes ten bullet points and a paragraph on what it means for you. You still read the sections that matter, but you know which ones those are.
Why it matters
Summaries are only as good as the instruction. "Summarise this" gives you a generic précis; "summarise this for a finance director deciding whether to fund it" gives you something useful.
