Your Funnel Plan Is the Brief AI Has Been Missing

AI can write a landing page in seconds. It writes a generic one, because it does not know your offer, your buyer or your promise. A funnel plan fixes that in an afternoon.

Ask AI to write a landing page for your offer and you will have one in about nine seconds. It will be structured properly, hit the expected beats, and read like every other landing page you have seen this year.

That is not the model failing. It is the model answering the question you asked, which contained almost nothing about you.

The part AI cannot do

A funnel is a series of decisions before it is a series of pages.

Which of your products is the core offer — the one everything else points at? What does the person want at the moment they first hear of you, and what do they already believe? What is the free thing that leads naturally to the paid thing, rather than attracting people who will never buy? What is the low-ticket offer that proves you are worth paying? What happens when someone says no?

None of that is writing. It is judgement about your business, your market and your margins, and no model has access to any of it. Ask AI to decide your core offer and it will produce a reasonable-sounding answer about a business it has invented.

Get those decisions wrong and beautifully written pages will not save the funnel. Get them right and the writing becomes the easy part — which is exactly where AI earns its place.

Where the time actually goes

Most people building a funnel do not stall on strategy. They stall on volume.

A modest funnel needs a lead magnet, a landing page, a thank-you page, a delivery email, four or five nurture emails, a sales page, order bump copy, an upsell page, a downsell page and a handful of ads. That is twenty-odd pieces of writing, all of which have to say consistent things about the same offer.

This is precisely what AI is good at: volume, variation, and keeping to a brief. The catch is the brief.

The brief you already have

If you have worked through your funnel properly, you are holding it.

Your core offer and what makes it different. Your ideal customer, their situation and what they already know. The unique value proposition you wrote in your own words. The lead magnet and why it leads where it leads. The objections you know you have to answer. The things you will never claim.

That is not a set of notes. It is a brief, and it is the thing that turns "write me a sales email" into a request with a business in it.

Two rules make it work:

Store it once, do not retype it. Put the plan in a project or workspace in your AI tool, or in your custom instructions, so every request inside it inherits the plan. Pasting your details into each new conversation is just the same explaining, moved earlier.

Ask it to confirm before it drafts. Give it the plan, ask it to tell you what it understands, and correct it before a single page gets written. A model that has misread your offer will write twenty confident pieces on the misreading.

What to keep for yourself

Let AI draft the pages. Write these yourself:

  • The unique value proposition. One or two sentences that took real thought. A model will smooth them into something safer and worse.
  • Price and what is included. Decisions, not copy.
  • Any claim, number or result. If it is not true of your business it cannot go in, and AI cannot tell the difference between a real figure and a plausible one.
  • The story you actually tell. Yours is specific. A generated one is furniture.

Then read every draft against the plan. Anywhere the copy drifts, the model was filling a gap you left — which tells you precisely what to add.

Start with the plan, not the prompt

The instinct is to get better at asking. Better prompts do help, and they help for one conversation, then you start again.

A funnel plan is written once and keeps working: for this funnel, for the rewrite in six months, and for the next offer, where most of what you wrote about your audience and voice still applies.

Our course Supercharged Sales Funnels walks through the whole sequence — core offer, ideal customer, lead magnet, low-ticket offer, order bump, upsell, downsell, the flow between them and the content each stage needs. The first two chapters are free and need no card.

The last chapter is the one this post is about: taking the plan you have just written and handing it to AI so the funnel gets written in your words rather than the average of everyone else's.

Common questions

Can AI write a sales funnel for me?
It can write the pages, emails and calls to action quickly and well. It cannot decide your core offer, your price, who you serve or what makes you different — and those decisions are what determine whether the funnel works. Do the thinking, then let AI do the writing.
Why does AI-written sales copy sound generic?
Because a request like 'write a sales email for my coaching business' describes the task and says nothing about the business asking. With no context the model answers for the average of everyone who ever asked something similar, which is competent and anonymous.
What is an offer funnel?
A sequence of offers at different levels of trust and price: a free lead magnet to start the relationship, a low-ticket offer that proves you are worth paying, your core offer, and the order bumps, upsells and downsells around it. It gives every prospect somewhere to go rather than one take-it-or-leave-it choice.
What should I never let AI write in a funnel?
Anything that has to be true. Prices, what is included, guarantees, results, testimonials and case studies. A model has no way of knowing which claims are real for your business, and an invented statistic reads exactly as convincingly as a real one.
