Prompt

In short
The instruction you give an AI to get a result.
In plain English
The prompt is everything you hand the model: your question, the background you've given it, the tone you asked for, any documents attached. It is the whole brief, not just the last sentence you typed.
A real example
"Write about our new service" produces something generic. "Write 150 words for small business owners about our new bookkeeping service, plain English, no exclamation marks, mention the free first month" produces something usable. Same model — better brief.
Why it matters
Most disappointing AI output is a briefing problem rather than a model problem. Context, an audience, a format and a constraint will improve results more than switching tools will.
